There are lots a different "walk by" street vendors... or more accurately, beach vendors here. And, not surprisingly, seafood is a common theme in their "wares".
Its one of those aspects of a tropical beach holiday to a developing world country that most people amuse themselves with. The first time you travel to such a place, these "street meat" and trinket sellers seem quaint and interesting, and after a day or so, people start to "sample" some of the "safer"options. Then, after a day or two more, people usually get a bit more adventurous and start to try some of the food items. But, then after a few days of the constant badgering and sales pitches, most of us get into a bit of a jaded phase with them and we usually end up getting a bit "curt" when they ask us if we are interested in their wares! But, after a bit longer, pretty much everyone seems to accept the fact that these pushy street vendors are just part of the way of things in this part of the world and we find a way to deal with their regular assaults on our ears and wallets :)
As usual, I've tried out a few different options while Ive been here, and I think my favourites this trip have been the lychees and the BBQ squid :))) yum!
And whileI was here,I also decided to spend a day Scuba diving just to see what the local under-water world is like...
And it was relatively pleasant day to be sure, with fine weather and a two hour boat ride out to the dive site on a quaint littlelocal fishing boat.
But Id have to say I was disappointed with the diving... Not from the perspective of the marine life which was plentiful and varied... But rather from the disappointing visibility which was never more than about five metres!... and apparently its pretty much always like that... Oh well!
