Setting Sail

Well, Im off to the boat today.
It was going to be tomorrow but the captain (Leonardo) called and said that I need to load the bike today because the weather in the Caribbean will be bad tomorrow... OK, Hes the captain so thats what we will do.
The other passengers (3-4?) will get on the boat a day later when we sail out of harbour on the 6th.

Then its a couple of days in the San Blass Islands and a couple more crossing to Cartegena Colombia. The yacht is a 47´ ketch called Zao and its significantly smaller than the boat I went on last time, so Im more or less expecting that my bike is gonna get drenched in salt water again.... bummer but not much I can do about it... Ill just have to cover the critical parts in oil and hope for the best. then Ill do a complete wash and electrical cleanout in Cartegena... Should take a couple of days.

Like I said, Id rather a larger boat but options are very limited at present. There are also a bunch of stories around that this captain can be quite difficult to get on with... Thats actually no surprise at all since pretty much everyone who gives up the modern western lifestyle to go sail a boat taking backpackers across from Panama to Colombia for a living is a "special" personality :))
But, this boat always arrives safely at the other end and has been doing it for several years so Im not too worried about that aspect... as to if Ill have fun on the trip... thats a different matter, and we will just wait and see!

So, Im off line for a while now.
I expect to post again in about a weeks time.
... see ya all on the other side :)))
