The town of Taos in New Mexico is very touristy with lots and lots and lots of artists and galleries - with some really nice work!
The area around the town though, is sparsely populated and was quite a pleasant ride :)
The countryside is mostly quite dull, with little of the spectacular colours of Monument Valley etc. to the West. Its mostly sage brush and and grass speckled with junipers and cedars on the flats. In the hilly country its pine trees and birch or aspen but still quite arid. The fall is definitely here and the broadleaved trees are in lovely golden hues. The weather is now getting quite chilly and the nights at these altitudes (2000m ASL) are sub zero. The days are also very windy...
Ill be moving south to warmer climes quite quickly I think!
